In this episode of our weekly Q&A series, we asked several players for their function in teamgames. If i had to answer the question, the answer would be defense for sure, but let’s see what positions our interviewers prefer. Check out their answers below!
<degrave> I am universal player, my position depends on game situation. If team have good flagrunner i prefer cover him, if enemy team have good attackers i prefer to stay on defend. I am bad at attacking and don’t know my strengths.
<Gangler> I have not a special position in team games. In the most games I rely on my impressions and my experiences. Only If I talk with my mates in Mumble during a clan war in an important tournament and they have special commands then I do what they want. And my dudes really have a lot of ideas for tactics and stuffs in these moments. But my virtual problem is that I lost my ambitions over all the years where the game was a part of my everday life. Beyond that I just want enjoy the rest time of Sauer in harmony and a lot of mix games and thats the reason why Im not thinking about my position in clan fightings or Sauerbraten. I dont think that I have certain strengths or weaknesses but I believe that I have extremely skill fluctuations. Ah yeah and my ping. But I dont want talk about that problem.
<TheLove> I consider myself as the missing piece in the team, even that a lot of people think I’m good flag runner i see myself more as defender, but i’m actually tactical person, when i play i feel like in the matrix, i notice every little detail and make scenarios and fast decisions and be there when i’m needed, and thats my strengths, my position depends on my team, i really admire teamwork but sometimes the team doesn’t understand each other and that is my weakness.
<Star> During clanwars or when playing with a team of players i know better, my position on the map is ‘everywhere’. I am mostly scouting the map, looking for the weakest entry points to the enemies base and providing awareness about the enemies’ positions to my team. Using the oversight provided by this gamestyle, I often seek the most silent entry to reach the flag and exit with the route that is most likely the one with least resistance back to our own base. Although this route can be quite counter-intuitive to most players, based on my scouting knowledge it is often the one that captures flags.
<Qur> I think the most important things to do in teamgames are to protect my flag, and secondly to protect the flagrunner, so i try to do both things as much as i can .In my mind, i’m one of the worst flagrunner ever , so i can consider myself more like a defender.
