Flashback Friday: Sauerbraten Official Trailers

Anyone who has ever downloaded Sauerbraten has probably first found themselves on the game’s official homepage: http://sauerbraten.org/. And I’m sure that many of these people, as I did myself, watched the video trailer as their first real introduction to the game.

Over the years this trailer has been changed to reveal edition updates, and so for this week’s flashback we wanted to bring you a few of the different videos that have been featured on that page!

In 2009 it was }KAOS{ who made the video that he entitled “Xtreme Sauerbraten.”

Then in June of 2011 eihrul hosted a video contest on the Cube forum that promised the winner “would get their video placed on the sauerbraten.org site for all to see.” After a number of different entries were posted it was cmCooper whose video was selected.

Unfortunately embedding is disabled for his videos, so it can only be seen directly on Youtube here: http://youtu.be/cO04cocYiaY

And most recently the trailer was changed again, this one having been made by a player named SteveJobs.

Xtreme Sauerbraten had the best gameplay shots of of the three trailers, but cooper and Steve Jobs’ videos really show the nice editing side of sauer – the whole reason we’re here.

I miss the first official Sauerbraten trailer which used the icon that appeared till Trooper edition came out.

I figured there must have been an older trailer but I couldn’t find any information about it. If anyone knows where it is, please link it!

And thanks to Nooby, I was alerted that this video by cmCooper was an updated version of the video which was put up between his original trailer and the current one. Thanks for sharing Nooby.
